Scarecrow Festival FLAMSTEAD 2010


This year's highly popular Scarecrow Festival will be held between midday Friday 20th August and 5.00pm Sunday 22nd August.
 


NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING: Wednesday 22nd September 2010 at 8pm.

Please note all walks now cost £1.00

 

For your information:

  1. Walk Leaders get £5.00 for leading a 4 - 5 mile walk.

  2. Any other money taken is held in club funds to pay for walk leaders.

 

 

 

WALK START TIMES

We aim to leave for our walks promptly at 11am (unless otherwise stated), so can you please be there for around 10.45 am.  The later we leave, the later we get to the pub and the more difficult it is to find a seat………………………

 

RESPONSIBILITY

We’d like to take this opportunity to remind you to take responsibility for your own safety whilst out and about as the group cannot be held liable for accidents or loss.

 

NEWSLETTER   

A full newsletter (including contact details) can be obtained by e-mailing Single File with your name, address and telephone number. Once we have this information a newsletter will be sent by e-mail.  Please provide a valid email address that can accept Microsoft Word documents, attachments, as we get many emails returned.

Around Asheridge to Aldbury and backup the hill

 

The Bridgewater Monument (grid reference SP970131) is a tower on the Ashridge estate, built in 1832 in memory of Francis Egerton, 3rd Duke of Bridgewater (1736–1803), "the father of inland navigation". It is 108 feet (33 m) tall, with 170 steps inside, designed by Sir Jeffry Wyattville

Directions By road ; 3 miles north of A41 between Tring and Berkhamstead, off B4506 from Northchurch (to Ringshall and Dagnall), or off the A489 from Dunstable.

This walk starts by going down into the valley and following the valley path until we come to the Ostrich farm, after the Ostrich farm, we go on some new footpaths, which include several hills, and one which is very steep, before heading back to the Full Moon Pub for our usual Sunday lunch.

Boots on at 10:15am for a prompt 10:30am start.
